Setvis and Dr.Reddy Lab Foundation offering Employment Trainin programs
Visakhapatnam, October 27, 2004

Training to eligible ones will be imparted under the Marpu scheme jointly organized by Setvis and Dr.Reddy Lab Foundation. Youth in the age group of 18 to 30 belonging to Visakhapatnam who has passed or failed in tenth class or Intermediate and whose family income is less than 24,000 are eligible. Applications should be submitted through the local community organizers to the Project Director, UCD, Municipal Corporation to the Setvis office.

Rotary Club distributes Tricycles

Tricycles were distributed to 10 disabled students at the Disable Welfare Office located in the RCD Hospital on Wednesday by Rotary Club Visakha Port City. The Commissioner of Income Tax distributed them.

Devastanam Lands Issue
Visakhapatnam, October 27, 2004

The Estimates Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is of the view that those who have encroached upon the Simhachalam Devastanam lands should pay the cost towards the land to the Devastanam.

The Chairman of the Committee B.Vedavyas and members visited Simhachalam on Wednesday and held discussions. Speaking to reporters the amount realized from payments towards land during the last two years was Rs.24 crores and an estimated Rs 100 crores could be collected.

The Committee however, expressed dissatisfaction with the progress in tribal areas stating that the development was not commensurate with the Rs.300 crores spent since 1975.

Nau Sainik Camp begins
Visakhapatnam, October 27, 2004

Nearly 560 cadets including 160 girls from 16 NCC Directorates representing all the States in the country are participating in the All India NCC Nau Sainik Camp 2004 which began at the Navy Ship Wright School on Wednesday.

Festive Officer from BSNL
Visakhapatnam, October 27, 2004

The BSNL, Visakhapatnam district has come out with festival offers for Dasara and Deepavali with landline connections with only Rs.1 for registration charges and no installation charge will be collected. The annual rental deposit of Rs.1000/- will be collected in six installments. According to the BSNL spokesmen, the scheme is in force from 30th October to November 15th.

Estimates Committee cancelled meeting
Visakhapatnam, October 27, 2004

The Estimates Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly cancelled the review meeting on Wednesday taking exception to the absence of the District Collector and about being informed his inability to attend at the last minute. The issue was taken to the notice of the Speaker of the Assembly, KR Suresh Reddy who was in the city on Wednesday.

The Chief Secretary would also be apprised of the matter according to the Chairman of the Committee. Speaking to the presspersons, the members of the committee opined that key issues have to be taken up and in the absence of the District Collector there is no point in speaking with District Revenue Officer who was assigned the job by the Collector who was away to Chintapalle.
