All arrangements set for AP State Formation Day Celebrations
Visakhapatnam, October 31, 2004

Andhra University will celebrate the Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day on a grand scale on Monday. Announcing this at a press conference on Sunday, the Principal of the Colleges of Arts and Commerce in the University, D.Pandurangarao, who is coordinating the celebrations, said that an exhibition of photographs will be organized at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications on the occasion.

The exhibition will have 200 rare photos which recorded the development of the public sector undertakings like Steel Plant and the shipyard, as also the development of the city and the university. It will be open to the public from 9.30am to 8pm.

The celebrations would be held at the AU Assembly Hall in the evening. The portrait of Potti Sriramulu who was instrumental in getting separate State for Andhra Pradesh would be garlanded. The cultural programmes would mainly highlight the great cultural heritage of Telugus.

The A.U.Public Relations officer, C.Ramakrishna was present.

Renovation for Tenneti Bhavan
Visakhapatnam, October 31, 2004

Tenneti Bhavan - the main office building of the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation will be renovated at a cost Rs.3.6 crores according to the Mayor, Rajana Ramani. She laid a foundation stone for the renovation programme on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, she said the corporation building was being renovated to make it corporate office for the convenience of the public. The two main entrances would have a portico and a parking plaza for parking visitors’ vehicles.

Release of loans to farmers
Visakhapatnam, October 31, 2004

The District Collector, Praveen Prakash has directed the officials concerned to release Rs.60 crores for advance of loans to farmers in drought affected areas and postpone the recovery of loans which were already advanced to them.

At a review meeting held at the Collectorate on Saturday, he approved the audit report of the District Cooperative Central Bank which put the net profit of the bank at Rs.2.64 crores for the financial year 2003-04.Reviewing the functioning of the SC Corporation, BC Corporation and DRDA, the District Collector directed the officials concerned to conduct inspections in the mandals and villages and submit a report by the end of the week.
