VUDA's new program christened 'Me and My City'
Visakhapatnam, November 14, 2004

The Vice Chairman of VUDA, Dasari Sreeninvasulu launched an innovative VUDA programme 'Me and My City' aimed at moulding children into good citizens. Unveiling the programme at the Children's Day celebrations, he said it would for citizenship training and improving the intellectual abilities of children. In enables children to know about sanitation, traffic, planning, development, solid waste and water management and rights and duties.

The Municipal Corporation organized the celebrations at the Indira Priyadarshini Municipal Stadium for children of Municipal schools. The Mayor, Rajana Ramani inaugurated the celebrations. The Visakhapatnam I MLA Dronam Raju Satyanarayana participated in the function.

Workshop by Velugu
Visakhapatnam, November 14, 2004

A district level workshop will be conducted on Monday and Tuesday by the Velugu-DRDA, the District Water Management Agency and voluntary organizations to find better ways to serve the poor. The workshop will discuss unrest in rural areas, empowerment of youth, dalits and women among others.

Special picnic buses by RTC

The APSRTC will ply picnic specials during the entire Kartkiaka Masam from Saturday. Medical Camp

Veluvolu Trust and MPM Trust in association with Avatar Meher Baba Premasramam organized a free medical camp and celebrated the Children's Day. The former MP MVVS Murty said he would arrange mid day meal for orphaned children of the Premasramam school from the next month. The Veluvolu Trust Managing trustee, V.Basavapunnayya also participated and eighty children were examined and given medicines.

Sarada Peetam will observe protest day

The birthday of Sri Sarada Peethadhipathi, Swami Swaroopanandendra Saraswti on Tuesday will be observed as a protest day to resent the arrest of the Kanchi Acharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswti. The spokesman of the Peetam of China Mushidivada on the outskirts of the city, L.Srinivasarao said abhishekams to Lord Shanmukhasubramanya Swami at the Peetam premises and Homams would be conducted on the day on account of Nagulachavti. Two books written by him would be released by Sadguru Sivananadamurty and Swami Swaroopanandendra Saraswti on Tuesday evening.

Radical Students Union member surrenders

A member of the Radical Students' Union member who was working in the Pedabayalu dalam in 2002 surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kumar Jain on Sunday. He said, he wanted to join in the main stream due to failing health of his father.

Mala Mahanadu plans dharna

Visakhapatnam

The District unit of the Mala Mahanadu will stage a dharna at the Collectorate on 17th November to press its demand for implementing the Supreme Court order on scrapping the categorization of SCs. The president and secretary of the Mala Mahanadu told reporters on Sunday that the dharna was in response to the call given by the Mala Mahanadu President, PV Rao.
