Good days are in store for Tummapala Sugar Factory – says Konatala Ramakrishna

Visakhapatnam, November 8, 2004
The Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konatala Ramakrishna after an inspection of the factory, addressing a meeting of farmers and employees on Sunday announced that the Anakapalle Cooperative Sugar factory popularly known as Tummapala Sugar Factory was being modernized at a cost of Rs 60 crores by spending Rs 40 crores for the machinery and Rs 20 crores on modernization of the co generation plant, distillery and ethanol plant.
He said that the Government is determined to keep its promise of resuming the factory this season which should also reach the one lakh tonnes crushing capacity. He urged the farmers to extend their help in reaching the target. The sugar cane crop wad adequate for the season and the Agricultural department would provide the required quantities of fertilizers and other inputs.
He instructed the factory officials to effect sugarcane supply arrangements with farms from Tuesday.

Save Little Hearts program by Apollo Hospitals

The Apollo Hospital under the 'Save Little Hearts' scheme, for the first time performed open heart surgery on a seven year boy who was the son of a laborer of Gajuwaka referred by the KGH a couple of day back. Disclosing this at the press conference on Monday, the Hospital Chief Cardiac surgeon PV Naresh Kumar said that the scheme to treat congenital heart diseases among children was inaugurated by the Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konatala Ramakrishna on Thursday.

Customs official jailed

The Special Judge for CBI cases, C.Samuel DV Kumar on Monday convicted Shaik Mohammad Allah Baksh, the former Superintendent of Customs and Center Excise at Narsapur sentenced him two years simple imprisonment on charges of corruption and a fine of Rs 2000.

Excellent response for Spandana programme

The weekly public grievance redressal programme, Spandana in the Collectorate attracts excellent response from the public large number of women turning up on Monday to submit representations on their problems to the Collector, Praveen Prakash. Most of the petitions pertained to house sites and to provide livelihood. The Collector took serious view of a women laborer being made to run around the office of the DMHO to receive Rs.1000/- to take her adopted son to NIMS in Hyderabad to get him operated for a heart ailment. The collector immediately sorted the problem.
