Naval feats on high seas

As a part of the Eastern Naval Command's Navy Week celebrations, as many as 11 ships of the ENC participated in the exercises with INS Ranjit, a Rajput Class destroyer, playing host to several of exercises. An array of naval feats created a heightened battle atmosphere on the high seas is an excellent one. A search and secure operation was carried out by two Chetak helicopters by lifting a man from the se by a rope. The helicopters also displayed 'sonar dunking' by taking out a simulated sea. Lok Nayak Foundation Sahiti Puraskaram

The Telugu writer couples Malati and Chendur of Chennai have been selected for the Rs.1 lakh Lok Nayak Foundation Sahiti Puraskaram in its inaugural year. This was disclosed by the former MP and foundation chairman, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad at a press conference on Wednesday. The award would be given to an individual or institution in recognition of his/her contribution to Telugu language and literature. Dr.Lakshmi Prasad said that the award would be presented on 20th January 2005 and former Union Minister Karan Singh who had been invited as chief guest of the function. The members of the joint Action Committee of the AP Government non gazetted employees' teachers and works staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate on Wednesday to press their demands. The JAC chairman, K.Raja Rao and its convener, P.Krishna Murty, the teachers' leader G.Simhadrappadu led the dharna. Central Bank of India manager held by CBI

A manager was caught red handed by the CBI while accepting a bribe on Thursday. According to the CBI SP A.Sai Manohar, the manager of Central Bank of India, in Krishna District, CD Maheswararao demanded and accepted a bribe of ten thousand rupees for releasing an installment of the loan amount of Rs 8 lakhs which was already sanctioned to a customer. BJP calls bandh
