Visakha Utsav should be a mega event says Konatala Ramakrishna

The Minister for Commercial Taxes Konatala Ramakrishna addressing senior officials at a meeting held at the Collectorate on Saturday directed the district officials to conduct the Visakha Utsav in a big way. The Minister suggested that tips should be taken from various sections of people and officials to make it a grand event. The festival should be conducted at various venues of tourism and historical importance. He said, special emphasis should be given on tourism, local culture and sports. Every mandal should be taken into account while organizing the events. In this occasion, the District Collector, Praveen Prakash said he would consult the people's representatives and leaders from the local organizations to make the grand event a success. The District Collector told the Minister that meetings from the grass root level to the district level would held after the first week of December. Training programme for drivers

Navy mela extended

The Navy Mela which was supposed to conclude on Sunday was extended by a day following phenomenal response during the last three days. The mela will remain open from 1pm to 10pm on Monday. A large number of people visited Satavahana Fleet grounds to have a look at the exhibits put up by various naval installations. Nearly seven thousand people visited the Naval Dockyard to see ships and submarines on display.. It was the main attraction at the Navy mela. A spokesman said arrangements were in full swing for the Navy Day celebrations on the beach road on December 4th. Muralidhar assumes charges as Vice chairman of VUDA

The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority Vice Chairman and Special Officer, D.Srinivasulu handed over charge to the VUDA Secretary D.Muralidhar on Sunday following his transfer and posting as the Project Director of Andhra Pradesh District Poverty Initiative Programme. The Vizianagaram Joint Collector, D.Varaprasad who has been appointed as the VUDA vice chairman is expected to assume charge on Monday. Avanthi robbery case

The mystery behind the daylight robbery in the house of M.Srinivasarao, Chairman and secretary of Avanthi Group of Colleges at KRM Colony was solved with the arrest of a women on Sunday. Valuables including furniture, TV and fridge worth Rs.2 lakhs which were transported in a broad daylight form the house were recovered by the police. According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, AV Subbarao, efforts are on to trace one Mr.Ramesh who was behind this act. A special party was constituted to investigate the case. Medical camp held
