Security arrangements in schools in wake of Kumbakonam School fire accident

Visakhapatnam, July 20, 2004

In view of the Kumbakonam School fire accident, the District Educational Officer R.Surendra Reddy has issued instructions to all the Head Masters of all the schools to make necessary security arrangements in the schools. Wider class rooms, fire fighters and all necessary steps that are required should be taken with immediate effect. Special care has to be taken and failure of these steps will lead cancellation.

Lions Club gesture
Visakhapatnam, July 20, 2004

Lions Club International distributed artificial limbs, hearing aids, tri-cycles, calipers and other implements to 1000 persons at a meeting here on Tuesday. As a part of Seva Mahotsavam, the club distributed the implements worth Rs.15 lakhs at a function conducted at the VUDA Children"s Theatre.

The Lions Club International Director, Ch..Varaprasad told reporters that this apart, they had drawn up an action plan to take up 15 mega projects to provide aid to 20,000 physically challenged persons and construct 1000 houses for the poor and offer education, scholarship and other facilities to two crores children.
