Global Trust Bank Visakhapatnam, July 24, 2004

The news of imposing moratorium on Global Trust Bank has spread like a wild fire and the depositors thronged the Branches of the GTB in the city. Speaking to the reporters, the Branch Manager of the GTB V.Pardhasarathy said that the RBI has restricted operations of the bank and some types of payments would be made according to RBI regulations. He said withdrawals from ATMs of the Bank or shared ATMs were blocked and the depositors can withdraw only Rs.10,000 from the Bank branches.

Anti-malaria action plan

According to the Project Officer of the ITDA, Paderu, SAM.Rizvi on Saturday, the new action plan being implemented in the agency area to control malaria is yielding good results. According to the plan, temporary Primary Health Centres are established at school complexes. With this the number of PHCs has gone up to 57 and each PHC is staffed by a doctor, a lab technician and 10 Para medical staff.

Students union extends solidarity

The junior doctors who were on an indefinite fast protesting against the cancellation of 295 seats n medical and dental colleges all over the state, the Students union staged a dharna infornt of the Collectorate on Saturday to express their solidarity to the junior doctors. They demanded if the just cause is not considered, the AISF and AIYF would launch a State wide agitation.

Probe against the City Planner
Visakhapatnam, July 24, 2004

Violating the Court order, the Municipal authorities has demolished a house of a complainant, the Fifth Metropolitan Magistrate Ch.Rajagopla Rao,on Friday directed the Gopalapatnam Police to investigate the criminal complaint filed by a resident against the City Planner and submit its report before October 14th.
