Water crisis in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant
Visakhapatnam, December 20, 2004
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is facing a critical water supply position following a halt to supplies from the Yeluru reservoir. The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant wants the Government to take an early decision on pumping water from the Godavari scheme. For the last few months, supplies from the Yeluru reservoir remained highly erratic forcing the plant to draw continuously from its Kanithi balancing reservoir. A VSP spokesman on Monday said with water neither released from Yeluru nor pumped from the Godavari, the storage is at a dangerously low level.
