The Department of Neurosurgery in the KGH has received sophisticated equipment, gadgets and disposables worth more than Rs 35 lakhs as gift form the members of the Andhra Medical College Alumni of North America. The members are also ready to extend more help in the form of equipment, books, journals, computers and even finance according to Jogi.V.Pattisapu who is a Paediatric neurosurgery specialist of Florida. The new equipment would help the department to perform more surgeries said the head of the Department N.Subramanyam. Thousands of people visited Simhachalam to offer prayers at the Sri Varaha Lakshminrusimha Swami Temple on Wednesday on the occasion of 'Mukkoti Ekadasi'. The Chairman of the temple trust, P.Ananda Gajapathi Raju was the first to have the darshan at 4am. The Devastanam authorities conducted cultural programmes like harikatha religious discourses and Bharatanatyam dance recital. Trauma care centre

The Union Government has sanctioned Rs.1.5 crore trauma care centre for the King George Hospital. The Government is establishing trauma care centres in some hospitals in the country which are close to the National Highway so that emergency medical care including surgeries can be provided to a large number of people in case of accidents or other calamities. The KGH sent proposals for Rs.3 crores to the Government in the hope that more facilities could be created according to the Superintendent, M.Ganeswara Rao said on Wednesday. Bank officer oppose privatization

The Andhra Pradesh unit of the All India Bank Officers Confederation opposed the privatization of banks and merger of public sector banks.
