Essential commodities prices go up
Visakhapatnam, August 21, 2004

The day one of truckers strike passed off peacefully in the district on Saturday with a marginal increase of prices of essential commodities.

The Convener of the Steering Committee set up by the Visakhapatnam Motor Transport Congress demanding withdrawal of service tax on cargo booked through transport companies. The Convener said that the strike was in total a grand success. Taking advantage of the situation, the prices of the vegetables vendors have created an artificial scarcity leading to hike in the vegetables.
