Workshop on Statistics Teaching Methods to Degree College teachers
Visakhapatnam, August 29, 2004

The Department of Statistics organized a Workshop on Statistics Teaching Methods to Degree College teachers on August 29th at 10am in the Department of Statistics, Andhra University

Prof.YC.Simhadri, Vice Chancellor of Andhra University in his inaugural address to the college teachers attended to workshop and explained about the role of Statistics in the Nation Development, the need for providing a good statistical education at degree level. He also emphasized that qualitative research and quantitative research together will give good results in research.

Prof.M.Vivekananda Murty, Head of the Department of Statistics and coordinator of the Work shop presided the function. He explained the need for strengthen the Statistics course by incorporating the usage of computers in their practical. He also advised the college management to give a special identity to the computer lab by way of providing infrastructure to the statistics department.

Prof.J.Lakshminarayana, Chairman of the PG Board of studies in Statistics, mentioned about the recommendations made by the PCHE Hyderabad and its implementation at Andhra University. Prof.K.Srinivasrao proposed vote of thanks. He made some resolutions basing on the deliberations of work shop about the infrastructure to be provided to the Statistics departments at college level and about question paper model in both theory and practical.

About 50 teachers from more than 35 colleges were presented in the workshop.
