Apex Court judgment comes in favor of BHPV workers

After 16 years of agitation program by the BHPV Canteen workers at last got the Supreme Court judgment in their favor. The Indian apex court directed the management of the BHPB to make them as permanent of the company. The court also directed to pay arrears since 1988. As result of this judgment, the BHPV has to shell down Rs 3.5 crores towards arrears.

UDG charges reviewed

The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation in its meeting held on Friday with the Mayor, Rajana Ramani adopted a unanimous resolution setting December 31st as dead line to avail Underground Drainage connection charges from house owners based on property tax instead of plinth area.
This is a good relief to the owners who were on warpath against imposition of hefty charges for getting the UGD Connection. Property tax is collected on the basis of built up area and market vale of the premises. The Mayor announced a notification would soon be issued inviting applications for inclusion under the new scheme. The Congress floor leader PLN Patnaik said that the officials should be made responsible for making the scheme a success.

Sri Raghavendra Swamy Aradana

The 333rd Aaradhana of Sri Raghavendra Swami will be conducted for three days from August 30th at the Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt premises according to its secretary. He said the mutt will also conduct Rig Veda upakarma at 7am on August 28th and celebrate Sri Krishnasthami on September 6th.

Collector appeals teachers to stay in their place of posting

The District Collector, Praveen Prakash has appealed to the teachers to stay in the villages and help to improve educational standards of the rural children. In an open letter to them on Friday, he underscored the role played by education in the country's development and noted that unless quality man power was prepared, the unemployment problem in the country would increase. He requested them to cooperate with the administration in building up a healthy atmosphere.

AISF meet in Andhra University

All India Student Federation has convened a meeting in the Andhra University. The President of AISF K.Venkateswarlu inaugurated the meeting. The District president DCH Raja Babu speaking in the meeting he demanded that the Vice Chancellor has to set his mind set and peaceful atmosphere has to be restored in the University Campus.
The minimum needs of the students like hygienic food, good water should be supplied to the students residing the hostels. Lack of the minimum facilities is causing viral fever to the students. In case, if the demands submitted to the University authority are not adhered, they are prepared to go for state wide agitation.

Krishnaiah appointed SC Wing Secretary

Senior Congress leader KGR Krishnaiah was appointed as SC Department General Secretary. The orders to this effect were issued by State S.C.Department Chairman NM Ramulu.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Krishnaiah said that he will leave no stone unturned for the welfare of the SC and weaker sections. On this occasion, he conveyed thanks to the SC Department Cell president K.Vengalarao, District Congress president Dronam Raju Srinivas, MLA Dronam Raju Satyanarayana, Ganga Raju and T.Gurumurty.
