CPM Polit Bureau Member Sitaram Yetchuri

CPI(M) Polit Bureau Member, Rajya Sabha Member and a leading social activist Sitaram Yetchuri was in Visakhapatnam to participate in a rally and speak at public meeting on the topic of anti-labour reforms and anti-people policies of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government.

Earlier, he spoke with the press community at a Meet-The-Press program held at VJF Press Club in Daba Gardens. He expressed his views and opinions and those of the CPI(M) party on various topics.

On Forward Trading..

Forward Trading is increasing speculation and is causing harm in two ways. Firstly farmers are not getting a good price and secondly essential commodities are getting out of reach of the common man. Yetchuri felt the need for suspension of forward trading. He said that it is unfortunate that India for the first time is importing Wheat which is the main staple for the people in the Northern India. He said that the Government needs to keep a check on increasing prices of essential goods.

Working towards 3rd alternative

Yetchuri said that his party is actively working toward the formation of 3rd alternative (not to be confused with 3rd front). He said that the alternative would bring together all like minded parties who work outside of anti-religious and anti-people policies.

This 3rd alternative, he said, is there even before joining the UPA Government. The party is holding the hands of the UPA Government only for the implementation of the common minimum program. Accepting the fact that there are minor differences with other left parties, he said that they are not major. Further he said that the stand of the party as a whole is the same and rejected of differences in the way various situations are dealt differently in West Bengal or Delhi.
