The Congress candidate for Lok Sabha seat D Purandeswari assured INTUC leaders and workers of achieving a separate Railway Zone for Vizag. She said that after winning the election, she will pitch a tent in front of the residence of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and sit in a dharna demanding separate Railway Zone for Visakhapatnam. While addressing the INTUC leaders and workers on Monday, she announced that she took the decision realizing the gross injustice done to Visakhapatnam Division despite it being a top money spinner for railways in the country.
Purandeswari assured helping the ailing Hindustan Shipyard regain its past glory. She said that she already spoke to the ministers concerning this issue. She felt that Visakhapatnam had so many industrial workers who could benefit only if Congress forms the Government both at the State and at the Centre. The Finance Minister, K Rosaiah said that the city is one of the fast developing cities in the country and a strong and able leader like Purandeswari is required to ensure development.
He charged the double standards of the Left on the nuclear issues. He said it was the Congress that had ensured six percent growth while the entire world had been reeling on the unprecedented recession. Purandeswari also launched her own website on the occasion.
