Minister wards against irregularities in implementing the scheme

The Minister for Civil Supplies and Food, K Venkata Krishna Reddy at a review meeting held on Saturday warned the officials that the government will not tolerate and stern action would be taken in implementing the Rs.2kg rice scheme from Ugadi. He asked the officials including tahsildars must make periodic and surprise visits. The scheme will be reviewed every three months after its implementation.

He cautioned not even a kilogram of rice under the scheme should go to the black market. Three thousand metric tones of rice will be distributed and the ration shop dealers too should ensure the success of the programme.

The Minister said that there were proposals to distribute medicines through Civil Supplies Corporation and open kerosene bunks. The DWCRA groups might also be involved in the supply of the commodities. The Joint Collector, M Veerabrahmaiah, SP Akun Sabharwal, Mayor P Janardhana Rao, MLAs and top officials along with office bearers of the ration depot dealers associations participated in the meeting.
