Assures on BHPV merger
The Prime Minister, Man Mohan Singh on a two day visit to the city, on Wednesday lauded the services of the Indian Navy particularly in respect of disaster management. He praised the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) and said it had instilled confidence in the nation as regards defence preparedness. Speaking a group of leaders, led by Visakhapatnam MP, N Janardhana Reddy, the Prime Minister assured the visiting delegation that the Centre had decided to merge BHPV into BHEL.
Visakhapatnam MP, N Janardhana Reddy at a late night press meet told to media persons that the Prime Minister had indicated to them that the Centre had also decided to consider to take over of Hindustan Shipyard Limited by the Defence Ministry. The Prime Minister reached the city on Wednesday by Indian Force Aircraft. He was accompanied by Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal and Minister of State for Mines, T Subbirami Reddy. He will inaugurate the 95th Indian Science Congress on Thursday.
The Prime Minister visited various headquarters of the ENC and he was briefed on the organization, role, area of responsibility and participation in various exercises. The Prime Minister visited warships INS Ranvir, INS Jalashwa and interacted with the Naval Officials. He spent some time with nearly 400 officers and sailors of the ENC.
