Chief Minister explains steps taken for elimination of poverty
The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on Thursday said that the UPA would extend the National Rural Employment Guarantee programme to all the areas in the country on April 1. He announced the same at a well attended public meeting at the port stadium, he said that the scheme now under implementation in some areas had become a big success as it was aimed at providing succor to the most vulnerable sections with employment following enactment of legislation with effect from August 25, 2005.
The Prime Minister explained how they were trying to translate 'Garibi Hatao' slogan into action. He added that they would set up top class schools in each block and ensure better standards of living by transforming backward areas into developed regions. In the Five Year Plan , it was aimed at sustaining high economic growth, create new jobs for the youth and ensure that the benefits be reached all sections.
N Janardhana Reddy, MP presided over the function. The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy explained the initiates taken by his government for elimination of poverty. The Union Ministers T Subbirami Reddy and M Pallam Raju were present on the occasion.
