Environmental experts opines death due to chemical effluents
Nearly 300 carcasses of the endangered Olive Ridley turtles were washed ashore near NTPC in Tikkavanipalem on Tuesday. The cause of the death of the turtiles is yet to be ascertained.
The local fishermen report that the waves have been brining ashore the remains for the past four days. According to them, the death of turtles from chemical poising to fishing accidents. The cause of the death of turtles is to be known as the officials are arranging for an autopsy to know the cause of the death.
Meanwhile, environmental experts suspect that the chemical effluents from fishing boats and fly ash from National Thermal Power Station might have killed the turtiles. Some opine that the turtiles might have fallen prey to the propellers of fishing trawlers.
