Recommends for a Higher Education Regulatory Authority
National Knowledge Commission, chairman Sam Pitroda addressing at a press conference said that access to quality education for all is the need of the hour. He has recommended the Union Government to establish a higher education regulatory authority to bring changes in higher education. He added that there is a scarcity of qualified manpower in various fields which can be addressed only by providing opportunities for students to access quality education.
In the press conference, he said the country needs more colleges, teachers and better infrastructure to solve the shortage of manpower problem in various fields. He said there is a need to break the conventional education system and make higher education accessible for all.
The National Knowledge Commission has made nearly 160 recommendations and felt that English language should be compulsory from Class I and vocational education system be revamped completely. He further said that there is need for 50 national universities in the country to give quality education.
