Storage Yard constructed 162 meters below sea level
The Underground LPS Storage Plant which is the first of its kind in the entire of South Asia is completed and is now ready for inauguration. The underground storage plant was constructed near Dolphin Hotel below 162 meters of sea level with the partnerships of BHCL and a company belonging to France.
The LPG that arrives from abroad will be directly pumped into the storage plant. The construction management said that the plant was constructed in such a way that it will withstand natural calamities. The plant was constructed with a cost of Rs. 333 crore and the construction process started way back in 2004.
The administration of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) are making arrangements to get the same inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on January 14, 2008. The first ship from Saudi Arabia arrived in the port with a load of 39,000 tonnes of LPG arrived. The HPCL administration are making arrangements for its inauguration and are discussing with officials and union leaders.
