Director General of DRDO to lay foundation stone
The Naval and Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL) will set up an Environmental Test Centre. The centre, built at a cost of Rs.70 crore will house several state-of-art test facilities to carry out stringent simulated tests of various underwater weapons and naval products being developed by NSTL.
The Director General M Natarajan will lay foundation stone for the same on Wednesday. According to sources, the test facilities range from mechanical to climatic and a combination of both that ensure the developed products to meet the total quality requirements and international defence standards.
The facilitates include vibration, mechanical shock, bump drop, low and high pressure temperature, thermal shock, humidity, salt spray and highly accelerated stress screening. The facilities would facilitate the indigenous industries in developing products for defence and the NSTL in evaluating products and weapons in stimulated marine environmental conditions.
