Thousands of pilgrims throngs to witness celestial wedding

Thousands of pilgrims thronged at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy temple atop of Simhagiri today to watch the celestial wedding of Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam performed as part of Bandham-Bhakti Chaitanya Rath Yatra. The priests of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam and Simhachalam performed the celestial wedding as per the traditions of Tirupati.

Lord Balaji, Goddess Padmavati and Goddess Lakshmi were taken out in a procession to Simhachalam on board Chaturyuga Bandham-Bhakti Chaitanya Yatra Ratham, which replicated Sri Venkateswara temple at Tirupati. According to TTD chairman, B Karunakara Reddy, the concept of the Rath Yatra was Lord Balaji visiting the temples of Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Lord Nrusimha Swamy who are considered the incarnations of Maha Vishnu.

The Union Minister of State for Mines, T Subbirami Reddy offered silk vastrams to Lord Venkateswara. He was accompanied with Swami Swarupanandendra Swamy of Sharada Peetham. The Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna, MLAs T Gurumurthy Reddy Karri Seetaram, TTD Executive Officer KV Ramanachari and Endowments Commissioner Sundara Kumar are also present on the occasion.
