Major fire breaks in a three-storied building of Aarif and Company

Fire brigade personnel suspect electrical short circuit

A major fire broke out in a three-storied building that houses Aarif and Company opposite TSR Complex here on Tuesday night. Dealers in various electronic goods and consumer durables such as televisions, refrigerators and washing machines, the owners of the mega white goods show room said that they had left the shop at around 9.15pm and were informed by the watchman on duty that the fire had broken out on the first floor of the building.

According to Asgar Aarif, one of the owners of the showroom said that by the time they reached the scene, the fire had gone out of control. Six fire tenders battled for more than two hours to bring the fire under control. A fire department official said that fifty percent of the fire had been controlled till 11.30pm adding the operations would continue till late in the night. The fire fighting personnel said that short circuit could be the reason.

However, the owner of the showroom maintained that they had switched off the main switch before closing the shop. A huge crowd that gathered at the place in awe flames leaping out of the building.
