Termed as magic budget but has motives
The State Government’s Rs.1,004.36 billion Budget surprised many of the sops and welfare proposals even as the Opposition leaders criticized it soon after it was presented by Finance Minister, K Rosaiah today. In view of the forthcoming Assembly elections, the Government’s tax less Budget drew a lukewarm response.
According to an industrialist MR Krishna Rao of Gajuwaka termed it as a magic budget. He opined that how the State Government will allocate such huge funds on welfare schemes. Andhra University Economics department dean G Ramachandrudu said the proposed Budget-08 was growth and social justice oriented. He said that the economic philosophy as enunciated by the Finance Minister is that development and welfare are two sides of the coin.
The CPI state committee member Ch Narasinga Rao stated that the budget was unfair to the people as the statistics shown was too far-fetched to be true. CPI secretary, Ch Satyanarayana Murty opined that the proposed Budget was an election oriented trap for the common person. GVMC Congress president and Visakhapatnam MLA I, Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao hailed the budget as a wonderful one. He said that no State in the country has proposed such a pro-common man budget.
