Two persons arrested on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe

On receiving information from a complainant, officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the Regional Passport Office (RPO) and arrested two persons including the Superintendent J Alivelu on charges of demanding and accepting bribe worth Rs.4,500.

The CBI officials trapped Alivelu who allegedly demanded Rs.4,500 for putting the stamp of approval on Emigration Certificate Not Required Form (ECNR) which is to be submitted to acquire the passport.

A private person G Achary who took the amount from the complainant on behalf of the Superintendent caught him red handedly. The duo will be produced before the CBI Special Court. Investigation is currently going on.
