Minister for Transport says 64 percent of target reached
The Minister for Transport and District-incharge Minister, Kanna Lakshminarayana said that Visakhapatnam district stood first in the State in implementing Phase I Indiramma Housing scheme by reaching 64 percent of the target.
He said out of the 1,05,943 houses sanctioned in the limits of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), Anakapalli and Bheemunipatnam municipalities, 1,04,487 were grounded and 64,348 were completed. The expenditure incurred was Rs.148.1 crore.
Speaking to media, he said under Phase II, the government has set a target of 1,03,940 houses. Enumeration of beneficiaries will commence from September 10, 2007. He said that village committees and officials concerned are making a door to door verification to avoid duplication of beneficiaries. The Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konatala Ramakrishna said 224.11 acres of government land was distributed under Indiramma to 8,803 beneficiaries while 12.01 acres of private land was acquired and distributed to 406 beneficiaries.
