Demanding justice for jobs
A large number of oustees of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), politicians and Trade unions staged a dharna on Wednesday demanding jobs for the oustees of VSP in its expansion project. They warned of intensifying their agitation unless the management considers their demands.
Since, VSP has recently released a notification for recruitment into various posts as part of its expansion plans, the oustees demanded special consideration over outsiders. They staged a demonstration and restricted movement of employees at Balacheruvu gate, Kurmannapalem gate and administrative building of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant for nearly two hours.
The Congress MLA T Gurumurty Reddy, TDP urban president CMA Zaheeer Ahmed and CPM district secretary Ch Narasinga Rao participated in the agitation. The MLA assured that the oustees of taking the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy and also Union Minister concerned for an amicable solution.
