GO is meant to impose property tax on non-residential buildings
The CPI State Secretary BV Raghavulu finding fault with the GO 634 meant to impose property tax on non-residential buildings, said that the State Government is trying to augment its revenue by taxing the common man. Speaking with the media on Tuesday, he said that the additional taxes are being levied in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam under certain conditions imposed by the World Bank and warned of intensifying their agitation against the GO if the government fails to withdraw it within four days.
As far as Bhu Poratam is concerned, he said that 75,000 acres of land of the two and half lakh acres occupied as part of the agitation is being cultivated. He also found fault the Indo-US Joint Naval exercises off Visakhapatnam coast on September 8 saying this would be detrimental to India's sovereignty.
