Aims at public knowing its contribution to Armed forces and services to society
The DRDO Regional Public Relations Officer K Jaya Prakasa Rao, speaking to media at a programme on Friday at NSTL, said that it has decided to give a new thrust to its public interface policy and as a part of this, the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has decided to open its 52 laboratories to the people to let them know about its contribution to Armed Forces and services. The DRDO's achievements are sought to be given wide publicity with the twin objectives of extending Defence technologies for greater civilian use and making the people feel proud about the scientific establishment.
Various weapon systems like supersonic cruse missile Brahmos, anti-tank missile Nag, Prithvi missile's Naval variant Dhansuh, ballistic missile Agni and autonomous underwater and air vehicles are in advanced stages of induction. These weapons are formidable deterrents for the enemies.
The Director of NSTL, V Bhujanga Rao said that very few countries possess some of the facilities available a the NSTL. He said that NSTL has on-going projects worth several crores on the anvil from the three Armed Forces. These orders are being executed by its association with different constituents of the DRDO. Principal Associate Director SV Rangarajan also spoke on the occasion.
