VSP Chairman inaugurates concreting pouring
As a part of expansion project of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, mass concreting works for the foundation of th blast furnace 3 began on Friday. The Chairman and Managing Director, PK Bishnoi commenced the pouring of 4,200 cubic metres of concrete into the new structure. The concrete pouring will continue non stop for 68 hours with a massive deployment of machinery like six batching plants for ready mix concrete, 24 transit mixers consuming nearly 1,500 tons of cement and huge quantities of sand and aggregates. Five hundred tons of VSP's own TMT bars will also be utilized for the foundation.
The blast furnace with all the latest technologies like pulverized coal injection, oxygen enrichment and copper staves for cooling. The work is being executed by Larsen and Toubro which is a consortium parter of Paulwurth, Italy to which the blast furnace has been awarded on a turnkey basis. Top officials of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant were present on the occasion.
