Huge public meeting held at RK Beach; City painted with red flags
Thousands of Left parties who gathered on Saturday to oppose the nuclear deal and the war naval exercises sent out a clear message to the United Progressive Government to concede the demands of the Left parties or face dire consequences. At a public meeting held at RK Beach that marked the culmination of two jathas from Chennai and Kolkata respectively that entered the city on Saturday morning.
The entire city is colored with red flags. In the afternoon, the cadres went in a procession from Siripuram Junction to the venue of the public meeting. It was a veritable red river coursing its way towards Bay of Bengal as the red shirted activists made their way to the beach. A large number of activists from Srikakulam, Viziangaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari took part and majority of them are women.
Women activists from remote places in the district showed up in strength which indicates Left's ability to create awareness in the masses on crucial national issues. The speakers were lustily cheered, more so when they came down on Bush.
