Biggest encounter between police and Maoists in recent times

In a major confrontation with the police, four Maoists including three women died at Amidala village in G Madugula mandal of Visakhapatnam district on Tuesday morning. The police identified the deceased as member belonging to Pedabayalu Dalam. The exchange of fire took place when a special party came across the Maoists during a combing operation.

The police seized two .303 rifles, two DBBL guns, five kit bags and a tapancha from the scene of offence of the encounter just 15 kms away from Vakapalli village which is already in the news on the charge of alleged gang rape by Greyhound personnel.

In the recent times, this is the biggest encounter in the north coastal districts and it case as a severe blow to the banned outfit which is already under pressure because of increasing number of surrenders and continuing onslaught of police.
