Says probe needs to be conducted by an independent body
Former Union Secretary and retired IAS officer EAS Sarma advised the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy to order a probe by an independent body into the allegations of corruption made by the former Vigilance Commissioner RC Samal.
Appreciating the promptness with which the Chief Minister set up a panel headed by the Chief Secretary, J Harinarayan, said in matters relating to corruption in high places, such prompt action would go a long way in enhancing the credibility of the Government in the eyes of the public.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, he referred to specific case of Samal that the Government should not get swayed away by sentiment and anger. It should not adopt a 'shoot the messenger' approach as the common man on the street was constantly at the receiving end of bad Governance, official apathy and corruption and he was ready to agree with anyone that pointed an accusing finger at the official agencies.
