Says 90 percent of HIV victims come from the working class
At the launch of CONNECT project by Population Services International (PSI) on Saturday to involve industries in the HIV-AIDS awareness drive, speakers expressed that 90 percent of HIV victims are from among the working class. CONNECT plans to mobilize entrepreneurs support for HIV-AIDS programmes for high risk workers through their corporate social responsibility at Mumbai, Mangalore, Tuticorin, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.
The programme is being launched with private-public partnership and include HIV/AIDS training for management, training of master trainers and peer educators, knowledge-attitude behavior and practice surveys, policy development and communication materials and monitoring and evolution.
APSACS project Director Ashok Kumar unveiled the service board of the project. Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) Chief Medical Officer G Ramanjaneyulu was the guest of honor. PSI Senior Project Manager Zafar Hussain and VPT Director (HRD) SVS Sudhakar spoke on the occasion.
