Awards meant in innovative suggestions in steel-related techniques

The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has bagged four Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar-2006 awards for the innovative suggestions from the blast furnace, electro-mechanical laboratory, steel melting shop and medium merchant structural mill departments. Seventeen employees received the awards from the Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Oscar Fernandez at a function held in New Delhi.

The award is a national award scheme instituted by the Union Ministry of Labour for workmen in industries for their innovative suggestions to achieve better results. Nearly 221 applications were received from various industries across the country for the 28 awards according to a press release.
