VHP International General Secretary Togadia speaks at public meeting
The Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international general secretary Praveen Togadia held the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh responsible for the proposed dismantling of Ram Sethu, which is meant to facilitate the construction of Sethusamudrm project.
Addressing a public meeting organized by Rameswaram-Rama Sethu parirakshana Vediaka on Sunday, he said that the Hindu religiion needs no evidence and the Ram Sethu is its integral part. He alleged that the monuments like Qutub Minar in New Delhi and Haji Ali in Mumbai were not touched because they belong to minorities. He commented that Ram Setu is dividing the stormy Bay of Bengal and calm Arbian sea and warned that nearly four lakh fishermen would be affected if Ram Setu is destroyed.
He announced that a country wide campaign would be taken up from November 20 with 'floating stones' collected from near the Ram Sethu, pictures of Ram, Hanuman and Shankar. This campaign would cover 12 'Jyothirlingas' and every possible village in the country to muster support for the pro-bridge agitation and the dismantling of Ram Sethu is aimed at insulting the Hindu faith, he said.
