Two Andhra University students arrested
On a tip off, the Task Force officials on Thursday busted a major fake certificate racket and arrested four persons including two students of Andhra University. The police trapped the accused and seized equipment used for making the fake certificates. In a dramatic move, two Task Force personnel approached a mediator for certificates and trapped the accused.
The police raided a rented building in Tatichetlapalem where the accused were forging the documents. According to police sources said that the four were making fake degree and PG Certificates of Andhra University. They were in possession of SSC, Intermediate and other certificates awarded by various universities. A fake certificate sells for Rs.15,000 and several students were acting as liaisons for brief periods to earn pocket money.
The City Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao said the accused had confessed to have made a few certificates. He said that the forgers were booked under Section 465 of IPC for fabricating documents. The police took up further investigation to trace the persons who bought the fake documents and book cheating charges against them. Meanwhile, the University Authorities are preparing to expel them for their involvement in the racket.
