Registration of cases against shop employees likely
Addressing at a press conference on Sunday, the City Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao asked the commercial establishments to be wary of the transactions involving stolen and fake credit cards. Besides, attention diversion gang also seemed to be operating by modus operandi. He said that the credit card offenses as high level white collar crimes and international level fraud and said the employees at shops were not even verifying the details of the persons making payment of the card.
The Commissioner narrated a few instances of misusing of credit cards by the offenders. He quoted that in the last week, a women who lost her credit card and even before she got it blocked, nearly, Rs.35,000 of purchases were made. He cautioned that booking cases against the employees of the shops was under serious consideration for abetting such transactions.
The Commissioner said that an analysis indicated that during the last couple of days had indicated that a gang was resorting to crime diverting the attention of the people. He added that in view of the burglaries during day and night, a large number of police personnel were being deployed in an area at a time to increase visibility of the police. He asked the people to lock their vehicles and take important documents with them. In the recent drive, revealed that 30 percent of the vehicles were not locked. He asked all the big establishments should install CCTVs to keen an eye on the parking lots.
