Arrested at Duvvada Railway Station
A Deputy Superintendent of Police and In-charge of Weapons Armed Reserve Police P Appa Rao was caught red handed while stealing a laptop and several other items. He is caught at Duvvada Railway Station located at the city outskirts on Sunday from the AC II coach of a train. The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested Appa Rao and recovered three laptops, 12 cell phones, two digital cameras and a wrist watch from his possession. The police also recovered nine suitcases, 14 railway bedsheets and several other railway property from his residence at Venkojipalem in Visakhapatnam. The GRP produced him before the in charge MRO on Sunday and he will be sent for remand after being produced before the Railway Magistrate on Monday.
The accused P Appa Rao works as a DSP at Nizamabad and a native of Visakhapatnam and keeps shuttling from Nizamabad in Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Nizamabad Express trains in the first and Second AC coaches. According to police sources, the accused to get into trains on different names and lift suitcases as well as bedsheets, napkins, digital cameras, watches and laptops. During his production before in charge MRO, he said it was a cooked up case and he would prove his innocence before the magistrate.
The Superintendent of Police of Nizamabad said that he belongs to 1982 batch of Reserve Sub Inspectors he was promoted and posted Nizamabad as Deputy Superintendent of Police.
