Demands Minimum Support Price for Paddy

The opposition parties on Wednesday staged rasta rokos and rail rokos in the North Coastal districts demanding support price for paddy. In the city, the Bharatiya Janata Party activists led by party president PV Naryana Rao staged a rail roko by stopping the Ratnachal Express coming from Visakhapatnam. The BJP national executive committee member K Haribabu said that the party would take up the issue in the coming parliament session and hold agitation at all mandal headquarters on November 5 to 7.

In Vizianagaram the TDP organized rail roko and rasta roko in Parvatipuram, Cheepurupalli, Kottavalasa, Bobbili. The rail roko was led by TDP Party district president Y Ramana Murty in Cheepurupalli and at Kottavalasa , led by Kolla Appala Naidu, Party in charge D Jagadessh in Parvatipuram, senior leader SVCh Appala Naidu in Bobbili.

However, no untoward incident was reported in the district. In Srikakulam district, rail roko programmes were organized under all seven constituencies by the TDP. Former Minister, Tammineni Sitaram, former MLA G Suryanarayana and ZP Chairman YV Suryanarayana lead the protests.
