Additional Force to be added to Crime Stations
In view of increasing crime rate and house burglaries in the city, the City Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao is proposing to strengthen crime wing with additional trained police force. He proposes to create a separate wing in the police stations with an exclusive Police Sub-Inspector with trained constables. The constables will be under the control of the Sub Inspector who in turn reports directly to the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime).
During the tenure of previous Commissioner, Kaumudi has merged the crime with Law and Order and the Station House Officer will take care of all the cases. Exclusively for Crime Department, nearly ten to fourteen constables were kept at disposal but could not get desired results. The present Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao is thinking of separating crime from Law and Order and the services of a Sub Inspector will be exclusively for the purpose of Crime and burglaries. Each police station will have this department who will exclusively look into the crime related matters. The City Commissioner have already sent proposals for a separate wing for Law and order to the Director General of Police and so far no response has come from the DGP.
It is learnt that in view of the increasing crime rate in the city and burglaries, the Commissioner has taken a decision to this effect. In the past two months, the burglaries in the city have increased and the people have lost gold items worth of 201 tolas, Silver worth of 42 tolas and cash worth Rs.6.80 lakh and other house hold items worth Rs. 2.20 lakh according to sources.
