Communication skills for Junior Doctors highlighted

The president of the society and Head of the Department of Gynaecology of Andhra Medical College and KGH BS Krishnamma said at a press conference on Thursday that the 41st Annual Conference and a continuous medical education (CME) programme of Visakhapatnam Gynaecologists Society (VOGS) would be held on November 17 and 18. Some of the top functionaries of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecologists Societies of India are participating in the meet and deliver lecturers.

She said that communication skills were found to be necessary for the junior doctors as they should know how to talk and behave with the patients particularly when they had a break a serious news to the patients or their family members.

A senior doctor and vice president elect of FOGSI Suchitra N Pandit would coordinate the session on 'communication skills for better doctor-patient relationship'. A moot court would be organized in a shape of skit by taking up two cases. There would be doctors, a judge and other enacting the proceedings of a medico legal case. This would help the doctors to understand the important legal points. Former vice president of FOGSI Sanjay Gupte would conduct the moot court.
