Brisk business witnessed at Diwali stalls

Diwali, the festival of lights, was celebrated on Friday with much enthusiasm. It is reported that the sale of crackers and fire works was dull till Thursday but however picked up on Friday morning. The stalls at RTC Complex, Gopalapatnam, Marripalem and Gajuwaka did brisk business. The dealers have given discounts on the marked price in view of the stiff competition.

The fireworks stalls at RTC complex gave fifty percent discount though they had announced 80 percent discount. The Textile and jewellery shops in the city did brisk business for Diwali. People consider buying gold for Dhanteras, the day preceding Naraka Chaturdasi of Diwali, auspicious and many buy at least a small piece of gold jewellery.

Earthen lamps decorating the compound walls of independent houses and apartment complexes were a treat to watch after dusk. Some also set up serial electrical bulbs for colorful illumination of the premises.
