Applications for fresh cards to be accepted up to end of this month
In the limits of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, those who have applied for ration cards will be issued from December 1. Across the district 17 digital photo lamination centres have been arranged and out of all, 3 centres are in Visakhapatnam alone. The three centres will be arranged at the office of additional supply officer Visakhapatnam 1 and Visakhapatnam 2 and the third one at Gajuwaka.
According to District Joint Collector M Veerabrahmaiah said that fresh applications will be accepted from November 20 to month end and after due verification, the process of issue of ration cards will be taken up. He said two cards one is rose and white ration cards will be issued. He said residence proof is a must along with the application for a new ration card. He suggested that the certificate issued by MRO/Telephone bill/PAN card or driving license can be accepted as a residence proof.
Under Praja Padam programme, 827 applications were received and verification is going on for issue of cards. Those who want to change the address may surrender the same for issuance of a fresh ration card, he added.
