Despite the City Police Commissioner’s efforts to arrest crime rate by creating a separate wing exclusively to arrest the crime-related issues, day time robberies continued to happen in Visakhapatnam.
According to sources, dacoits broke open the house of a lawyer Uday Kumar residing at Sri Rama Apartment in Maharanipeta. The lawyer locked his house and went to the court by 9.30am and returned back at around 3pm. By the time he returned house, he noticed that the main door was open. When he entered into the house, he noticed that an alamariah was open and the dress materials were thrown away in the room. He noticed that gold jewellery worth of 50 tolas and cash of Rs.20,000 was robbed. The spouse of the lawyer died a couple of years back.
The Lawyer immediately lodged a complaint with the Two Town Police. On being informed about the incident, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) P Rama Rao (Crime) along with CCS Circle Inspector TMS Prakash, the Two Town SI Govinda Rao rushed to the spot. Clues Team is pressed into the service. On interrogation, the watchman said that a person came in the morning to enquire for a house rental and upon watchman informing him about some portions being vacant in the apartment, he went inside. The watchman said that he is not aware when the person went back. The police are of the opinion that this anonymous person might have committed the dacoity. The police registered a case and began investigating.
