Task Force officials arrests four
The city is under the clouds of cricket betting during this cricket season. Police have tried their best by arresting few persons connected with betting during cricket matches in several occasions in the past. The person who conducts betting chooses a remote place where betting is being done and the sources say that the turnover in these betting often cross lakhs of rupees.
In the past, the Task Force Police have arrested persons involved in betting at NAD Junction, Santipuram, Railway New Colony and other places where betting is conducted. The police, in a planned manner conducted raids and arrested persons.
The Sunday crucial cricket match between India and Pakistan naturally created enthusiasm among the people. The police anticipating the probable areas conducted raids on a guest house opposite Rytu Bazaar in MVP colony on confirmed information and conducted raids. They have arrested the key person holding betting Srinivasa Rao along with Ramana Murty, Suri Babu and seized six cell phones, seven credit cards and cash worth Rs.4,950. Even in this instance, the betting amount is believed to have crosses lakhs of rupees. One of the main accused Venkat who conducts the betting is from Hyderabad and the police are on the hunt for him. The police are investigating the case.
