No signs of survival of missing fishermen
With remote signs of survival of the seven fishermen who were caught in cyclonic storm SIDR off Sagar Island in West Bengal, the officials are presuming them to be dead. The Coast Guards are learnt to have called off the search. However, the officials are continuing their search operations.
The lone survivor of the boat mishap in the Bay of Bengal, V Yerraiah returned to the city on Sunday. He was admitted into a hospital for treatment amidst warm welcome by his family and friends.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Mechanized Boat Operators’ Association president PC Appa Rao requested the Chief Minister to sanction Rs.2 lakh to each of the family member who lost an earning member of the family.
