Visakha Steel Workers Union requested the VPT

The representatives of Visakha Steel Workers Union on Thursday requested the Visakhapatnam Port Trust authorities urged for strict adherence to the policy in moving out vessels at General Cargo Berth. The leaders urged the authorities to be impartial in allowing vessels to discharge the importing goods at General Cargo Berth.

The Visakhapatnam Steel Workers Union (VSWS) general secretary D Adinaryana said Carl Mesam of SAIL were berthed on November 14 and was allowed to discharge continuously for about 82 hours against the VPT’s policy of not allowing vessels for more than six shifts. He pointed out that the Pacific Breeze of VSP which was got berthed on October 31 was allowed only for 48 hours.

A delegation led by Visakhaptnam Port Trust trustee VV Rama Rao and VSWU general secretary D Adinaryanaya met the Port Trust Chairman KR Kishore and submitted a representation.
