Demands for plying autos on highways

The Visakhapatnam Zilla Auto Drivers’ Union, Visakha Auto Rickshaw Karmika Sangam and other unions will organize ‘auto bandh’ on Monday. They will take out a rally of auto-rickshaws from Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to RTA office.

Their main demands include the withdrawal of the recent GO that prohibits autos plying on highways and lifting of police ban on their movement from GVMC areas including Gajuwaka on the central city.

The auto drivers would also denounce a government stipulation that the basic qualification of auto drivers should be eighth standard.
